The South American Centipede

The South American Centipede is one strange creature. Also called the Giant Scolopenders this centipede is the longest in the world! While it is growing it will shed its skin much like a snake, but with one creepy twist. It will then devour its own recently shed exoskeleton! This centipede can grow over a foot in length and can feed on creatures as large as an iguana. Take a look at the video below for more information about this 100 legged creature...

The Mosquito kills more people each year than any other creature in our world. There are over 3000 different species of mosquitoes throughout the world. I bet you didn't know that Mosquito eggs can last a full 5 years before hatching! Also mosquitoes are 500 times more active during a full moon! Is a just a coincidence that only the female mosquito sucks your blood and that blonds get bitten more than brunettes? Check out this video below for more information...

This footage from the National Geographic shows us a huge Anaconda stalking its prey. In this case the unlucky victim is a Capybara that weighs in at over 100lbs! This will be the only meal the snake eats for the next 7 months...

Like all creatures on our planet though, the piranha does serve a purpose since it normally attacks weak or injured creatures. After all, isn't it supposed to be survival of the fittest?

This Vampire Squid is deep sea creature that is a cross between octopods and decapods. They have the ability to dim their eyes to make it appear as if they are disappearing into the distance. Just think of all the creatures in the ocean that we have yet to discover. Here is a video set to music showing this amazing creature...



Here is another video that shows you a bit more of the crazy creatures that grace the ocean. The list includes the decorator crab which uses pieces of coral and sponge to blend into it's surroundings. Very cool...

Everything You Need To Know About Iguanas

From the BBC documentary Iguanas Living Like Dinosaurs these videos narrated by David Attenborough have some fantastic footage of Iguanas in the wild. Amazing that they can capture such detailed moments in time right from birth! These clips take us through the full life cycle of an Iguana!

Iguanas have many unique abilities including slowing down their heart rate to last underwater for a full 14 minutes. These creatures are no doubt one of mother nature's finest specimens...

Tornado Destruction

Tornadoes have already been ravaging through part of the Mid-West this year. In fact the nation has had 654 twisters so far in 2008. This year has already has seen the most deaths in a decade and storm season is in full swing. Here is some intense Tornado footage from the National Geographic channel.



This next video is from a bunch of storm chasers... It has a bit of filler in the beginning of the video, but about halfway through there is some of the best tornado footage I have ever seen! Amazing the power of nature, perhaps we should begin to respect it...

What Makes Birds Fly?

These baby albatrosses learn real quick that it is sink or fly! The tiger sharks that cruise these waters every year are just waiting to pick off a few of the weaker albatross. I guess this is just another example of survival of the fittest...



In case you have every wondered what a Tapir is... well wonder no more! I know I have never seen this animal before, but here are a few quick facts from The National Geographic Channel. I don't know I think it kinda resembles an elephant with that strange nose.

When Animals Attack!

First up it is Deer vs. Deer in the battle for superiority in the forest... Reminds me of a chick fight : )



This next clip is more like when mind-controlling parasites called Leucochloridium paradoxum attack! Crazy that these things can make these snail do their bidding... the way they swell up like that is just a bit disturbing!



Finally it is kangaroo vs. small boy... not much of a match up here, but it pretty amazing to watch this kangaroo's moves! Quite impressive...

What Eats Vampire Bats?

The Assassin Bug turns the tables on the vampire bat as it sneaks up and sucks their blood. I guess this vampire bat finally gets what's coming to it being that they are little blood suckers as well...



This next video has some amazing thermal images of a pig getting its blood sucked by a vampire bat! Vampire bats have heat sensors that let them know the exact spot to feed on. I am surprised this pig doesn't wake up while this bats are feeding!



Finally we have a vampire bat vs. the wrinkle bat, who knew that vampire bats were cannibals as well? The announcer has it dead on when he mentions Dracula... wicked!

Python Has Lunch For The Next Two Months!

A unlucky gazelle become a massive meal for this 16 foot long python! Amazing that these creatures can swallow such a large mammal completely whole...



Next up is a boomslang snake vs. a sneaky chameleon! Such is life I guess, but I was rooting for the chameleon...



Finally we step out of the snake world and into the world of the scorpions! Not only do they have to worry about getting killed by one of their own, but they have to deal with this pesky shrew...

Underwater Camouflage Saves Lives!

First up is a clip from National Geographic that shows some of the unbelievable adaptations that underwater creatures have developed to survive in their surroundings. Crazy to even think that there are creatures on this planet that can shape shift and change colors so rapidly. You would think we could learn something from these underwater specimens of nature...



This next video is a bit more controversial, it starts out showing us more of the amazing camouflage from underwater. Then it takes us above the water and shows us more camouflage in insects and plants. After that it takes a weird turn and starts talking religion... I suggest you just turn down the volume or take it with a grain of salt. I thought the video was good, but sorry you are not going to convert me : )

Eagle Vs Water Chevrotain

This struggle between predator and prey has been evolving for millions of years now. It is pretty impressive to see how the water chevrotain has learned to survive this very dangerous eagle!



Next up is the endangered Pangolin! Kinda like an anteater but with crazy scales. As the earth continues to change though, you can only wonder how long this creature will grace our planet...

Undertakers Of The Skies

The Condor with an amazing wing span of 10 feet is one of the wonders of nature. This huge bird is just part of the cycle of life, at least it doesn't go to waste...



The Osprey is another very large bird of prey. Watch as this Osprey dives down to catch a nice meal for it's young ones. Such amazing eye site...



This last bird of prey is the King Vulture! What a magnificent display of nature, such a colorful face on this creature...

Great Natural Wonders Of The World

In this David Attenborough documentary we travel around the world to bring you some amazing wonders of nature. From the depths of death valley, to peaks of Yosemite Falls, to the volcanoes of Hawaii this video is certainly well worth your time, but be prepared it is about an hour long... I hope someday to visit all these places, but until then this is the closest I will come.

The Largest Tiger In The World

The Siberian Tiger is the biggest type of tiger on our planet! The biggest male Siberian Tiger ever recorded was 700 lbs! Unbelievably, this creature was over 10' long! These magnificent beasts are on the endangered lists as man crowds its hunting grounds. Check out the video below to see the Siberian Tiger in action...

The Epic Battle Between The Jaglavak Ants And The Termites

The Mofu people seek out this elusive Jaglavak Ant, when termites threaten their homes and crops. What happens when they release the ants upon the termite colony is nothing short of amazing. It is quite interesting how the termites can work together as one group to try and save the queen.


If you ever wondered what an ant colony would look like underground, well wonder no more...



Finally, here is the story of the Leafcutter Ant, a creature that collects leaves, but has to turn them into fungus before consuming they. Nature never ceases to amaze...
